I ended up with this logo that worked pretty well to illustrate coming together with information, contributions, data, and brain trust of Oaklanders to figure out and solve their own challenges.
I wanted to layer the idea of history, roots, information, data, and structure that is formulaic but organic.
Oakland famously puts it's Oak trees in everything and the roots are integral to community identity and personal histories.
I thought of it like a dome covering the Town.
I wanted to build upon the Oakland Hive Maps and illustrate that networked knowledge, from within Oakland communities, could protect Oaklanders anywhere they go in the Town.
Oakland Hive Map - Oakland is made up of 146 different micro-communities all connected in one town.
